What Assetlens is, what it isn't, and how your data is handled.
Yes. Assetlens is self-hosted — it runs on your own machine or your own server, and your holdings live in a local SQLite database file that never leaves it. Each signed-in account gets its own isolated database file. There is no central Assetlens server collecting your portfolio, no analytics beacon, and nothing is sold or shared. The only outbound calls the app makes are to public market-data sources to look up prices and NAVs.
Indian and US stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, liquid funds, fixed income (FDs, RDs, bonds, PPF, EPF), bank account balances, and physical assets such as gold or real estate. On top of holdings you can track goals, SIP/SWP/STP plans, loans, insurance, passive income, subscriptions, a watchlist, and price alerts.
No. Assetlens is not a registered investment advisor, broker, or distributor, and nothing in it is investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell. It is a personal record-keeping and analysis tool. Screeners, health scores, and fund metrics are calculations over public data, presented for your own information — the decisions, and the responsibility for them, remain entirely yours.
Stock and ETF quotes come from public market-data feeds and are typically delayed rather than tick-by-tick; mutual fund NAVs are pulled from AMFI's official daily bulk file, which publishes once per trading day. Prices are cached briefly (about 15 minutes for equities, an hour for NAVs) to stay within provider limits, and a background job refreshes NAVs hourly on trading days. Treat every figure as indicative — for anything official, your broker, AMC, or CAS statement is the authority.
Always. Reports export to PDF, Excel, and CSV directly from the app, including holdings, transactions, and capital-gains statements. And because the whole database is a plain SQLite file on your own disk, you can copy, back up, or query it yourself at any time. There is no lock-in and no export paywall.
It produces lot-level capital-gains reports with an LTCG/STCG split, tax-loss-harvesting candidates, and FX impact on foreign holdings, all exportable. These are computed from the transactions you enter, so their accuracy depends on your entries being complete. Use them as working papers and a starting point for a conversation with your tax professional — not as a filed return.
No. There is no pricing tier, no trial clock, and no paid unlock — every module is available from the moment you sign in. You run the app yourself, so the only cost is whatever you choose to spend on hosting it, which for a laptop or a small home server is nothing at all.
Sign-in is via your Google account. If you'd rather not use OAuth, the app can instead be run with a single shared password, or with no login at all when it's only reachable on your own machine. Additional people can be given access by approving their email, and each approved account gets a completely separate database — so a spouse or family member sees only their own portfolio, never yours.
Everything you need to track, understand, and grow your portfolio — in one place.
